The Feteasca Neagra 2019 from the southern Moldovan region of Comrat is a mature red wine of profound character and natural warmth. The indigenous Feteasca Neagra — the "black maiden's grape" — has rested several years in bottle and now reveals its full potential: the bouquet shows a complex interweaving of ripe plums, dark cherries, dried fruit and an enticing note of clove. On the palate it is full-bodied and velvety, with well-integrated tannins and a long, fruity finish. A magnificent companion to braised dishes, roast beef, game and bold, aged cheeses.
